Longmont, CO: Real Estate Information

Longmont is a popular Relocation choice for many people moving here.  There's good value in buying a home in Longmont.  Price per square footage is much less here compared to Boulder, Louisville and Superior.  Longmont is its own City, in fact, Longmont has the most people who live and work in their own City compared to all surrounding cities.

A lot of people like Longmont when they go see homes because the Old Town area of Longmont reminds people of the midwest or parts of the east coast because of the nice old trees and quaint streets.

During the years I have lived here, Longmont has gone though quite a transformation.  It used to be that you only went to Longmont to drive the Main Street drag on a Friday or Saturday night back in the day.  But today, there are a number of large employers in Longmont which drove the high tech boom of the mid 1990's.  Amgen, Maxtor, Seagate (now they are one company), and Xilinx are just a few of the companies who have good sized campuses in Longmont.

2007 population for Longmont was 84,636. And in 1997 the city population was 60,036, an increase of 41% so you can see Longmont has grown quite a bit with the high tech boom of the 1990's.

A 3-bedroom, 3-bath, 2,000 sq ft, 2-car garage house ranges in price from $175,000 to $225,000 as a starting point.  As for property taxes, Longmont Homes listed around $400,000 have annual property taxes at $2,000 approximately.

Sales statistics from 2006 and 2007.  Median Sales Price in 2006 was $242,500 and in 2007 it decreased to $240,000. The Average Sales Price decreased from $289,902 in 2006 to $279,617 in 2007.  And the Average Days on Market was almost the same year to year, 109 days in 2006 and 106 days in 2007.  These statistics are for residential homes.

What should you know if you are considering a Longmont Relocation is the old supply and demand issue.  There's still a lot of new construction for residential in Longmont, mostly on the edges of the city.  Longmont is shaped almost like a big square.  The inventory levels for homes on sale is the highest in Longmont compared to any of the cities listed on my website.
